There was a time when Istanbul kept putting obstacles in my way, almost as if it was asking me to let go, while I refused to return to Iran. I was still somewhat lost, still looking up at the sky, and I hadn’t yet understood the depth and magnitude of reconnecting with my roots and my soil. Yet I talked about it constantly. At some point on the path of my life, I reached a cliff.

Before I jumped, I spread everything that belonged to my life—my clothes, my books, my spices—across the middle of the living room. I walked over them and spoke. I realized that I had become the space itself, and I asked my friend to record those moments. And now I understand that there was nothing to fear in the fall, because there was no ground at all.

As Jung says:
“The one you are becoming will catch you.
Let yourself fall.”
